Two weeks

Being under sun, being permeated and restored is so good. Being whisked away by words is so good. Trouble melting is so good. Coffee is better when you are relaxed rather than tense. Computer problems are frustrating, computers working are so good. I hope I will be finished writing before my supervisor goes on holiday, in two weeks.

A bit of graphic design with some word processing on the side

Hello world. Today I am in a weird mood. Its hard to explain. Its not weird in a good way. Which leaves a bad way by default. A default I’m not totally sure really matches as a label for this mood, but which I suppose is correct in its bluntness. I think I’m frustrated at progress in my thesis. I have spent a long time composing figures from all my results. I am very happy with how things are shaping up, my figures look hot! In a scientific way. But, these great degrees of hot have taken greatly from my bank of time, that now I am poor and I try to be thrifty. Which is hard, cause I like to tinker with my figures getting them to be just right. But I am moving on baby. On to Microsoft Word, I see that Corel Draw in my rear mirror and I say, farewell O great tool of creativity, aid in the pursuit of all things good to the eye and the mind. Where in such equality of purpose, synergy is. Though away from me, drain of time. In Microsoft Word will I create now. Not of visuals like that of a graph, a photo or scanned dark bands upon white backgrounds. No, now I create with words, visual I guess, considering no brail will be used. I will be back to Corel Draw, and I shant be gone long. More figures are yet to be composed, yet more toil and tinkering, to end justly in satisfaction.

I think my thesis is actually going to be good now. I found out that another student in my lab has been able to reproduce some of the results I got. Which I can tell you was the greatest thing I have heard at least in the past few months! im just vaguely pulling that time scale out in the hope it will suggest to you that It was a really big deal to me. I think I can move on a bit now and not doubt my work so much. Perhaps I have actually figured something out during all this, perhaps I actually got something right! Astonishing, exciting, motivating me on.

The Queen drinks Earl Grey

Personally I prefer English Breakfast.

My new Saturday morning routine involves going swimming at 9am for about an hour at Moana pool. I have done this for the past three weeks and it has been pretty good. I feel so relaxed afterwards. Then I have a late breakfast and coffee :) There is this one girl who is also there every Saturday at the same time as me. Just an observation, don’t read into it.

The latest update on my masters is... its taking so long and going so slow. Oh wait that’s nothing new. A more informative update is that I will be finished by the 8th September. That’s when my supervisor goes on holiday for two and a half weeks, and there is no way I am submitting anything she hasn’t checked. I think she is just doing it to make me hurry up. Because we all know the world revolves around me.This is my desk in the write up room on the 8th floor of the microbiology building, this is where i am most of the time these days.

Is that sun? Yes friend it is a beautifully sunny day in Dunedin.

3 post-it notes or 4?

Is that a 2 megapixle photo? I dont think I had my camera set to the best quality.

Would that be work on my laptop screen? No freind that is blogger.

Just for some perspective, this is the view from the window on my left.

Hey is that Dave Lim re-enacting last weeks All blacks victory against the Wallabies?

Is that a snotty tissue?

Hey I can see my house from here.

Did anyone see 3 news a few days ago. They showed some NZ first MP pulling the fingers in parliament 3 times. I thought the whole think was hilarious. 3 news were obviously very proud of their footage cause they kept repeating it.

I may have eaten too much chocolate recently. I brought 3 king sized blocks from Countdown on Wednesday and am already into the second one three days later. Oh well. Plus I brought two snickers bars, I’m pretty sure its about my time to win a free one. Just have to remember not to throw away the wrapper before checking it. That was so gutting when I did that. I mean you cant help thinking that there was a 1 in 6 chance (or even more considering I had already brought a few) that it was a winner!

Our lifegroup has started planning our Oscar video, its quite complicated at the moment but will be awesome and very memorable if we can pull it off. That’s all I’m saying baby. Oh and there will be some Michael Jackson. If you hadn’t noticed, and you probably hadn’t, all the Oscar videos I have been involved with have had a Michael Jackson song or a cover of a Michael Jackson song.
